Ecobalance-Service has launched a $300,000 plastic bottles recycling line at the Silmash works in Chernivtsi. In a month, two more lines worth a total of €1 million will be put in motion to process sorted household garbage into sealing tape, toilet paper, rubber, bags, automotive spare parts, and other items. The salvage content in end products will be as high as 98.8 percent.
The new refuse processing plant, which will cost UAH 20 million (nearly $4 million), seems to mitigate the “wastes management headache” of many Ukrainian mayors, especially in cities where landfills are packed to capacity. “We will process household garbage from five to seven Ukrainian oblasts,” said Andriy Izatulin, Ecobalance-Service top manager. The plant has already begun receiving plastic bottles from Zhytomyr, Khmelnytsky, Ternopil and Kryvy Rih.
Mr. Izatulin claims the production will be environmentally-friendly. The high-tech equipment, which is properly certified to meet international standards, will be tended by 50 workers.
