Three cities signed Letters of Intent with the USAID LED project in late November 2007: Alchevsk, Luhansk Oblast, on Nov. 26, Chuhuiv, Kharkiv Oblast, on Nov. 27, and Izmail, Odesa Oblast, on Nov. 29.
The documents testify to parties’ commitment to collaborate on the development and implementation of economic development strategies for the signatory cities, and outline the scope and conditions of the collaboration.
In Chuhuiv and Izmail, the Letters of Intent were signed between the project and the City Radas (Councils), whereas the one in Alchevsk is trilateral, signed also by the Alchevsk Development Fund founded by the Industrial Union of Donbas corporation.
According to work plans, which are addenda to the Letters of Intent, committees of experts established in each of the cities to draft Economic Development Strategic Plans are to come up with the strategies in late March to April 2008.
