The City Rada of Kolomyia, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, today approved an Economic Development Strategic Plan, a Rada official reported to the LED Monitor.
Kolomyia Deputy Mayor for Economy and Finances Volodymyr Tarnovsky said the vote was in fact unanimous, as 41 Rada members of 42 present supported the strategy with no nay.
It was the second attempt to pass the plan, the first having failed for lack of a quorum at the City Rada session on Sept. 20, 2007.
The strategy of Kolomyia economic development was drafted in August 2007 as a result of four-month planning efforts of a local Expert Committee guided by the USAID LED project. The strategic plan calls Kolomyia "the gate to Hutsul region, the soul of Galicia, and the City-Pysanka," and includes three action plans: SME and Tourism Development; Investment Attraction; and Municipal Infrastructure Development.
